We tried something a little different this time.

Now that we're settled in at language school, we thought it might be a good time to try a live chat instead of our usual written letter. We were able to share much more, as well as answer many of your questions! We saw friends, supporters, representatives from partnering churches, and yes, even our moms ;) Although we won't completely be replacing our written letters, we've got to say: It's way more fun to talk " face-to-face," and we'll be figuring out how and when to integrate more calls like that into our communication routine.

You can catch the replay of our update below, including a Q&A session at the end. But first, a quick recap of the prayer items:

Praise

  • Finding a good Spanish-speaking church to plug into

  • God kept us safe during a scary incident when the alternator suddenly died in our van, then provided quick repair. We are also in need of another costly repair, but got connected to someone right on campus who was willing to do it just for the cost of the part!

  • We are making some great friendships already,

Requests

  • That the kids would have more opportunities to learn and practice Spanish

  • Finding balance juggling school, ministry, and family life, and honoring the limitations God has allowed in our lives

  • For Asa's spiritual growth while immersed in Spanish—especially that God would provide an older man to be a mentor locally

  • For Suz to form new friendships that are mutually edifying, and to support Asa and the kids well in their learning
